Getting readers is one of the things bloggers focus the most on, but let’s be honest is also one of the most complicated parts of getting started! So, what can you do to promote your blog without feeling weird? These are my favorite and proved 5 ways to promote your blog!
When I started my blog 2 years ago I had nothing. Sure I had built a successful blog before, one that reached thousands and thousands of people every day, but that was before all the social media craziness began and that was before Google was so strict with their SEO, how could I manage to bring visitors to my little corner of the internet now that all these new set of rules was established?
At first, it was difficult. I felt like I was writing for myself and myself alone. Seriously, I really believed that no one was reading it (besides my mom from time to time) so I had to test a ton, try a ton, investigate a ton and fail a ton to come up with a mix that consistenly brings me readers without a ton of extra effort on my end. This is the mix of things I’m sharing with you toda that will help you promote your blog.
Is this a magic formual to get raving fans? Not at all, but it works if you put the little bit of effort that goes behind it, and if you combine that with a beautifuly designed website (make sure to check the wordpress templates we have for sale!), great content and passion for what you do, you’ll get the results you want.
The 5 Best Ways to Promote Your Blog
1. Your social media:
Seriously, your social media is the best way to start promoting your content. Share it on Instagram, on Facebook, on Twitter. Use all the free platforms you can access. And don’t stress about the fact that you maybe don’t have followers in there because on instagram that’s what the hashtags are for (make sure to read this post about the best hashtags to use on Instagram). I once got 5000 views ona single day simply by posting my recipe on Stumbleupon where I had a whooping 2 followers.
2. Group Boards:
If you have been using Pinterest for a while you probably already realized that there’s something called a group board. Group boards are basically shared boards where everyone can pin. The great thing? Most of them come with a ton of followers. You need to request the admin to join but it’s totally worth it.
3. Facebook groups:
I’m a huge fan of Facebook groups and I love the sense of community that goes behind them. There are a ton of Facebook groups made exclusively to promote and cross-promote each other’s content. There are thousands of them just looks for “Blogging” on Facebook and click the group’s section and then just request to join. Most of them have daily or weekly threads where all the members participate. It’s not only a great way to get some additional exposure to your content and to get your content shared by others but it’s also a rewarding way to start meeting more people in the blogosphere.
4. Comments on other blogs:
There are a couple of blogs I love to read daily and sometimes I post I’m reading really resonates with something I already have in my blog and that I feel will add value to the conversation. In those cases, I share the link in the comments section in a very thoughtful way. It’s a great way to start a conversation with others about a topic you are probably passionate about.
5. Mix, former Stumbleupon:
Remember what I told you earlier about Stumbleupon bringing me a ton of traffic? Well, Stumbleupon now changed and it’s called Mix. I honestly don’t love the platform in the same way I love Instagram but it’s great for traffic so I highly recommend you give it a go with your posts.
